In the Dunes - Loft

Welcome to our latest design adventure, where we transformed an upstairs loft into a moody and cozy retreat. In this blog post, we'll delve into the thought process, choices, and elements that came together to create a captivating ambiance. With our clients existing sectional as our starting point, we set out to infuse the space with a dark green color scheme, blending custom-designed accents, carefully curated textiles, and pet-friendly considerations. Join us as we explore the journey of designing a room that exudes warmth, comfort, and a touch of intrigue.

1. Setting the Mood with Dark Green Walls:

​To establish the desired moody and sophisticated atmosphere, we opted for dark green walls. This rich and earthy hue served as the backdrop, enveloping the room in a soothing ambiance. The deep green tone added depth and created a sense of intimacy, instantly transforming the space into a captivating retreat.

2. Working with Existing Furniture:

Our clients were keen on retaining their beloved leather sectional, which served as the focal point of the room. We embraced this challenge and carefully integrated it into the new design scheme. By selecting complementary furniture and fabrics, we ensured that the sectional seamlessly blended with the overall aesthetic.

3. Introducing a Side Chair with Performance Fabric:

To enhance the room's functionality and create a comfortable seating arrangement, we added a side chair with a performance fabric. This choice not only provided durability but also introduced a contrasting texture to the space. The chair became a cozy reading nook or a spot for guests to join comfortably, inviting occupants to unwind and enjoy moments of solitude or celebration.

4. Custom-designed Pillows:

To tie the room together and add visual interest, we designed custom pillows for both the sectional and the side chair. These pillows featured fabrics carefully selected to harmonize with the dark green wall color and the warmth of the leather sofa. By incorporating complementary patterns and textures, we achieved a cohesive look that showcased the homeowners' personal style while contributing to the room's overall moody and intimate vibe.

5. Pet-friendly Performance Rug:

Considering the family's furry friend "Frank", we opted for a performance rug. This choice provided both style and practicality, as it offered resistance to stains and wear and tear. The rug's texture and pattern added depth and visual interest to the room, contributing to the cozy and inviting feel while accommodating the needs of their beloved chocolate lab.

6. Multi-Functional TV Console

To add functionality and enhance the room's aesthetic appeal, we introduced a thoughtfully chosen TV console. This piece served a dual purpose, offering both storage and a stylish anchoring point for the television. The dark wood console was selected with careful consideration of its design, ensuring that it complemented the dark green walls while adding an element of sophistication to the room.
